A creative response to Someone Is Praying for You by Jethro Turner

There are a few microseconds when you fall in water, where you're not really wet. But you are nearly drowning. From not too far away, the orca can see your heartbeat starting to race. The orca can see the blood withdrawing from your extremities, all the little capillaries contracting in the Pacific cold. When you were born, they put a little plastic band around your wrist, to make sure you wouldn't get mixed up or lost. But somewhere along the way, you did. Below you is quiet, dark. Above, nothing but a shiver of thin, black cloud across the grey sky.
