Akari Aso
'Radiance Amidst Uncertainty'

A riposte to the stagnating forces of control and over-deliberation, this sculpture celebrates the beauty of the unintentional by emphasising brightness, colour, and intuition. Using the Yotsume-ami technique to weave bamboo, Aso lets a shape emerge to reflect the fluidity of human thought—an invitation to ponder true creativity as a space where unexpected outcomes can flourish.

Akari Aso employs traditional techniques to craft sculptures, baskets, and jewellery from bamboo, exploring light, shadow, and natural textures. She was recently commissioned to create an installation for the Grandvrio Hotel Beppuwan, and her work has been showcased multiple times at Milan’s Salone del Mobile.
