Jessica Costa
'Sobejos XII'
Challenging the separation between art and craft, this piece, rooted in the concept of sobejo (meaning ‘excessive’), offers a sense of visual intrigue. Threading wool into fabric with a tufting gun before cutting and shaping the fibres, the tapestry emanates with inner brio. An embedded frame highlights her painterly approach, conferring a mysterious focus.

"We were really impressed by Jessica Costa’s innovative use of rug tufting to create an object that somehow moves between textile sculpture, painting, and architecture."
