Matt Wedel
'Flower Tree'
An entire ecosystem plays out within this sculpture, where the creative process stands as a device to comprehend and heal the world. Harnessing traditional coil building techniques, he creates a work of fractal surface detailing, etching natural cycles across it. Dried over six months, the piece is then kiln-fired—the mythology of flames solidifying this sculpture as a celebration of survival.
