Margaret Rarru Garrawurra
'Mol Mindirr (black conical basket)'

Mindirr (dilly bags) encapsulate the endurability of the Saltwater peoples and remain integral to ceremonial and practical life. Here, a thread of novelty comes from the use of a new dye for gunga (pandanus) fibre with fallen leaves of the Dhumumu bush. A slight yet significant evolution of a sacred object, this basket sings with gentle poise.
