Kunimasa Aoki
'Realm of Living Things 19'

Fascinated by nature’s gradual layering of time, Aoki’s cumulative process reveals how minute forces bind together to create something robust. He uses innovative techniques, stacking, moulding, and compressing thin coils of clay, and pushing the material to its limits. Ancient yet brimming with life, the piece’s form and surface distortions evoke transformation from a multi-dimensional standpoint.
