Exploring wood’s endless possibilities, this vessel is born from repetitive action and observation. Fascinated by the textures of chopped firewood, the artist restores it to its trunk-like form through a process of splitting, carving, and joining. Subverting the soulless effects of human intervention, the piece encourages listening, respecting, and ultimately returning the material to a place of origin.

Didi NG Wing Yin has garnered global recognition for his distinctive woodworking carving techniques. In 2024, he won several emerging artist awards in Sweden and Finland, presented a solo exhibition, and participated in a raft of group shows and art fairs across European countries.
